Former UK Love Island star, Molly-Mae has recently reversed her extreme cosmetic dentistry and reverted to taking care of her natural teeth, after realising she wanted to return to a more ‘natural look’. Molly-Mae previously had composite bonds for two years but decided to get them removed on her mission to ‘glow down’.
As well as getting her composite bonds removed, Molly-Mae has also had her lip fillers dissolved, and she has removed her hair extensions. She claims she went ‘way too far’ with her highly groomed aesthetic and is making a point of reverting back. Molly explained that since graduating from Love Island, she got into the habit of overdoing it, with high expectations from the media to upkeep this perfect façade.
Since getting her composite bonds removed, Molly-Mae decided to get her teeth whitened with dental grade peroxide, the same formula used by HowLite. This option was a far better alternative compared to the composite bonds, as it allowed her to safely achieve her perfect smile. Composite bonds can cause sensitivity over time, and this was definitely the case for Molly-Mae. She explained her toothache was ‘like a migraine’ and ‘not worth the pain’. Removing the composite bonds bought up a lot of insecurities for Molly-Mae, as she has always been self-conscious about her yellow teeth. Molly-Mae decided to get them whitened very soon after getting the composite bonds removed, this gave her the confidence to speak up about her experiences.
“I wanted to be whitening my teeth really intensely because I have loads of work stuff coming up and plus, I just don’t really like the fact that my teeth aren’t nice, crisp and white, they’re more of like this kind of gold-y shade right now.”
To most, it would not seem like a big deal for someone to switch up their teeth and go for a more natural look. However, Molly-Mae holds an insane amount of influence over the younger generation. By deciding to go down the natural route of teeth whitening and avoid going to the dentist for extreme cosmetic dentistry. It has influenced young girls all over the world, teaching them to love their natural teeth. By using safe peroxide whitening product, Molly-Mae has avoided lasting damage and long-term sensitivity. She has shown all of us that natural teeth can be beautiful too.
