Yes. If you are using one of our professional programmes with our custom fitted trays and specialised gels, you can safely whiten at home to achieve your desired level of results. It is true you can expect some extra sensitivity during the treatment, but our formula will not cause any lasting sensitivity. For those of us who can’t bite into ice cream or have cold drinks without a straw it is recommended you use our remineralising agent alongside your whitening.
No problem, whether the trays are too big or small we will resolve this for you at no added cost. We provide medium sized trays as standard for taking impressions as a staggering 95% of people fall into this category. If the impression trays are the correct size for you, they should not touch or squeeze your teeth. If they do this suggests that the impression tray isn’t the correct size.
If you think you need a different size impression tray, please contact us at info@howlitewhitening.co.uk and we’ll get your measured up to save any delays.
Every tray we make is completely unique and designed to fit snugly around your teeth. We make our trays out of a thin, bendy material for maximum comfort. Our home teeth whitening kit trays are a clear non-BPA plastic so if you opt for our DayLite programme you can get on with your day and they’re hardly noticeable. Similarly, we appreciate how important it is to have a good night’s sleep and can reassure you that our NiteLite programme will not disrupt your sleep while it whitens your teeth.
To whiten teeth, on average we say 1ml of gel per application (application means top and bottom trays). As everyone’s mouths vary in size and some people have more teeth than others, we estimate that one 3ml syringe can provide a minimum 3 applications and up to as many as 5 applications. We provide an applicator brush to help you make your gels go further. Using your brush, you can evenly spread the gel on all surfaces of your customised trays.
If you get high or moderate teeth sensitivity you should use the remineralising gel. Sensitivity affects us all to varying degrees. Any whitening that works has the potential to cause sensitivity, be wary of anyone trying to claim otherwise. Our remineralising agents reduce the frequency and severity of this sensitivity while simultaneously providing key ions to aid tooth recovery while teeth whitening.
All standard shipping is completely free for all products including refill syringes. We even include a prepaid postage for you to return your impressions to us.
Yes, we ship to anywhere in the world. The postage fees may change depending on the country.
We strive to have your custom trays sent to you within 3-5 working days from when we receive your impressions at our lab. This may be a few days longer for international customers.
45 days from when we post your whitening trays if you are unhappy with the results, we will issue a refund. To guarantee your purchase take a photo clearly showing your teeth next to the shade guide provided within a week of us posting out your trays and syringes. Send this photo to guarantee@howlitewhitening.co.uk using your order number as the subject. Again, to get a refund contact us at guarantee@howlitewhitening.co.uk
A lot of care, time and resources go into creating your perfectly fitting custom trays. We hope you can appreciate that requests submitted outside of the warranty period will not be honoured.
Your custom trays are guaranteed for two years. If your trays get damaged, lost or destroyed within this period we replace them for £30 including delivery.
If you are pregnant or nursing, we air on the side of caution and recommend that you wait until you’re no longer breastfeeding before using any of our whitening programmes. There is currently no conclusive research on the safety of our teeth whitening gels while nursing or pregnant, but our customer’s safety is our main priority, so we advise you delay getting your Love Island White Teeth.
If you suffer from extreme sensitivity or have exposed roots, any form of effective whitening treatment has the potential to trigger sensitivity. Our remineralising gels contain properties that help aid repair and combat sensitivity. All our whitening gels also contain soothing agents to reduce sensitivity for safe teeth whitening.
Caps, veneers and fillings will not whiten. All whitening products can only work on natural teeth, any dental work you’ve had done will need replaced if you want them to look whiter.
If you have one tooth darker than the others, email us directly at info@howlitewhitening.co.uk and together we can plan a whitening programme that works for you.
There are various incidents when you can have a single discoloured tooth. A common cause is following root canal therapy (endodontics). Teeth whiten uniformly, if you have one tooth darker than the others it will whiten at the same rate and will still not match the other teeth following whitening. We offer a specialist single tooth whitening service. We can provide a segmented custom tray that bleaches the individual tooth/teeth that are more discoloured than the others. You simply apply the gel to the discoloured tooth until it matches your other teeth, then switch to our standard customised tray to continue with uniformed teeth whitening.
We provide an extra set of impression material as standard to allow for mistakes. We understand that these setbacks can be frustrating, should you need more impression material it will cost £30 to send another impression box (3 sets of putty and upper and lower trays). Return postage is included in this £30 to allow you to begin teeth whitening at home as soon as possible.
Yes, although tobacco staining can be very stubborn, we find those who smoke can have the most dramatic changes to their tooth colour. If you follow our instructions and use our custom fitted trays with the Media Programme, we can guarantee excellent results. The same applies to tea and red wine drinkers!
No, you should wait until you have the braces removed. It is close to impossible for anyone to make custom fitted trays that fit around braces. Even if it were possible, our whitening gels would not be able to touch underneath where the brackets are glued on, meaning you would be left with little yellow spots on your teeth.
The longer you wear your custom trays with the whitening gel the faster the results. You can stop your whitening programme at any time. If you achieve the level of white you desire, simply stop using the gels and keep any leftover syringes in the fridge for top up applications.
Each programme comes with a personalised calendar.
Depending on which whitening programme you choose, wear your whitening trays every night until you run out of gel. If you are getting sensitivity, switch to our remineralising gel agent for a night/day or two before recommencing with your home whitening gels. You can take short breaks throughout your whitening programme.
NiteLite – Works to whiten your teeth for up to 6-8 hours. For best results wear for a minimum of 3 hours.
DayLite – Has the same hydrolysing whitening power as NiteLite and can remain active for up to 3 hours. For best results wear for a minimum of 45 minutes.
No, our gels bypass the natural microscopic cracks and tubes in your teeth to react with the stains embedded below. Our gels hydrolyse and remineralise your teeth, restoring them to their former glory or whiter.
Our whitening programme results last for a long time, especially when coupled with our remineralising gels both for teeth whitening purposes and restoring the strength of your teeth. As we get older our teeth get darker and will naturally darken again over time. Our diets have a big impact on the speed at which our teeth darken.
The outer layer of your teeth is called enamel, saliva products bind to the enamel forming a film (the pellicle). This pellicle forms a few seconds after tooth brushing and acts as a natural barrier to protect your teeth from acids in foods.
Highly staining products such as cigarette smoke, coffee, red wine (chromogens) attach to this pellicle and over time work their way through the porous enamel and dentine tubules and cause your teeth to appear more yellow.
No, if you have fillings or dental work on your front teeth, they will stay the same colour regardless of how much you try to whiten them. You can still use our whitening programmes to whiten your natural teeth but be aware that your fillings will stand out next to your new brilliantly white teeth and may need replacing if you want them to match.
NO! Our whitening programmes will whiten all-natural teeth whether they are crooked or straight.
Having anything in our mouth makes us salivate, it’s a natural biological process to help us soften and chew our food. Follow the instructions carefully about how much gel to apply to your trays. After every application, once you seat your custom trays on your teeth wipe away any excess gel from around your gums with a tissue. Any build-up of water in your mouth is just your own spit and is perfectly safe to swallow!
Each whitening programme is designed specifically for you and the level of white you want to achieve, by sharing your syringes we can’t promise that you will reach your desired level of white. We advise against using our gels without the correct custom trays as the results can be blotchy.
No, for best whitening only drink water through a straw.
Many foods and drinks contain natural or artificial carbohydrates (sugars), these could get trapped between your trays and teeth affecting the results of your whitening or even cause decay!
Our trays are made from a soft non-BPA plastic and are designed to fit comfortably and discreetly in your mouth, to preserve the quality of your trays we recommend you do not eat with them in.
18 and above.
When it comes to fluoride, we want to give you the choice. For our remineralising gels we offer two options, our standard remineralising gel and our remineralising gel with added fluoride. Our teeth whitening gels do not contain any fluoride.
We offer fluoride free remineralising gels as we are aware fluoride can be a subject of controversy and we want to offer you the choice to decide if fluoride is right for you or not.
Some people have reservations about the safety of fluoride as when it is ingested in high quantities it can have negative effects on our health (like most things when ingested in high quantities). As our gels are held next to your teeth with custom trays you will never ingest any of the gel, even if you were to swallow some there is zero risk to your health as we only use trace amounts of fluoride in our desensitising agent.
Fluoride is one of the world’s most abundant naturally occurring elements and in the dental world it is viewed as a very effective and safe way to lower dental decay, the majority of branded toothpastes see fluoride as a silver bullet and the first line of defence against decay and sensitivity. (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/fluoride/ )
We offer two types of remineralising agents, one with fluoride and one without fluoride, both contain properties that encourage remineralisation of your teeth’s enamel. Our mouths are a very harsh environment, huge forces are exerted through our teeth every day when we chew food, there are constant fluctuations in temperature and acidity levels. It is no surprise that over time our teeth weaken with the strains of everyday life, as a result of this it is not uncommon to experience some degree of teeth sensitivity from time to time. We provide our remineralising gels to help reverse the damage that has been done to your teeth through the years of wear and tear.
Using either of our remineralising gels in conjunction with our whitening gels reduces the frequency and intensity of dental sensitivity. The remineralising gels have been shown to keep your teeth whiter for longer reducing the need to whiten your teeth as often.
Both gels are hydrolysing compounds and work through the exact same principles of science to make our teeth whiter without causing damage. Our teeth are made up of lots of little pores, over time these pores get blocked up with staining compounds (chromogens) from foods and smoking. The gels act on the chromogens breaking them down and flushing out all the debris exposing your natural white teeth below. The gel bypasses the tooth tissues and gently breaks down the stains, biological and environmental variables affect the tenacity of different stains, this is why multiple applications are required for the best whitening results.
Our NiteLite gels are made with 10% carbamide peroxide and our DayLite gels are made with 4% hydrogen peroxide, both are weak acids that gently act on tough stains stuck between the microscopic pores of our teeth. To reverse the damage caused by foods, smoking and aging our whitening gels all come with remineralising ions as standard. We use potassium nitrate; it is used in many leading branded sensitive toothpastes. The potassium ion (K+) travels down the exposed dentinal tubules to the nerve helping reduce sensitivity. It acts as a protective layer to prevent further loss of tooth structure while keeping teeth looking whiter for longer.
DayLite contains 4% hydrogen peroxide and NiteLite contains 10% carbamide peroxide. The 10% carbamide peroxide (NiteLite) breaks down over time into 4% hydrogen peroxide (DayLite) to gradually whiten your teeth while you’re sleeping. NiteLite and DayLite are in essence extremely similar, both will achieve the same level of whitening in the same number of days, NiteLite requires to be worn for more hours of the day as it releases its whitening energy at a slower rate.
In the U.K. the standard number of syringes given in a professional whitening kit is three. Having conducted extensive research we know that this falls short of the number of whitening sessions required to get long lasting whiter teeth. Sure, your teeth will go whiter with only a few applications, but they will quickly revert back to how they were before.
For whitening to be effective it must be done in consecutive days over a minimum of two weeks. In our home whitening programmes we provide a minimum six syringes; this is 18 days’ worth of whitening (up to a maximum of 25 days). Our programmes are designed to safely remove all stains from your teeth and provide you with long lasting white teeth. Our gels contain potassium nitrate, this protects against sensitivity and encourages remineralisation, meaning your teeth stay whiter for longer.
We understand that in order to give you the best product we must take into consideration, that every individual has different needs, lifestyle and habits. We give you the optimal set of dental tools for you to be the architect of your own smile.
Alongside our pharmaceutical partners we have been hard at work in developing new and exciting research into what goes into our specialised gels. Keeping in mind that the formulae developed works hand in hand with our programmes and the whitening trays that will be specifically tailored to fit every single tooth perfectly. Whitening should not be a chore but should fit around your lifestyle to give you your desired white smile in a matter of weeks.
